The growth rate of the money supply in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDE) has generally decreased significantly over the past decade. When comparing the periods of 2012-2023 to 2000-2012, the annual growth rate of the money supply has declined in most EMDE, with exceptions noted in countries experiencing high levels of inflation, such as Argentina, Turkiye, Iran, and Egypt.
