Pharmaceuticals, Machinery, and Automotive Comprise Half of EU Exports to the U.S.
In the 12 months ending September 2024, European Union exports to the U.S. totaled €527 billion ($571 billion). Leading categories were medicinal and pharmaceutical products at €112.6 billion (21.4% of total), mechanical and industrial machinery at €90.4 billion (17.1%), automotive and transport equipment at €77.2 billion (14.7%), and electronic and electrical equipment at €44.6 billion (8.5%). Together, these categories accounted for 62% of the EU's exports to the U.S., highlighting their critical role in transatlantic trade.
