Germany's Outsized Share of EU Manufacturing Trade Surplus

In 2023, the European Union's trade surplus in manufactured goods totaled $546 billion, comprising $439 billion from extra-EU trade and $107 billion from intra-EU trade. Germany accounted for $374 billion of the surplus in 2023, representing 68% of the EU’s total—consistent with its 71% average share from 2000 to 2023.
