Growth and Distribution of International Students in the United States (1960–2023)

From 1.5% of the total student population in the 1960s to 5.5% in the years 2018–2020, international student enrollment has grown steadily. In 2023, the distribution of international students by continent of origin is as follows: Asia (804,439), Americas (109,821), Europe (78,646), Africa (57,480), and Oceania (6,782).
