Russia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Iraq supplied 57.5% of China’s crude oil imports in 2024.

In 2024, Russia exported 2.19 million barrels per day (Mb/D) of crude oil to China, surpassing Saudi Arabia’s 1.55 Mb/D by 41%. Along with Saudi Arabia, Malaysia (1.39 Mb/D), and Iraq (1.24 Mb/D), these four countries accounted for 57.5% of China's crude oil imports. Malaysia also overtook Iraq by 12% in crude oil exports to China. Notably, Malaysia is not a significant oil producer or exporter, suggesting that a portion of these exports may include Iranian oil being rebranded as Malaysian.
