The U.S. history experienced an inflation rate of more than 10.0% in several periods: 1813 (13.7%), 1862–1864 (11.1%–27.0%), 1917–1920 (15.2%–17.8%), 1942 (10.9%), 1947 (14.4%), 1974 (11.1%), and 1979–1981 (10.3%–13.5%). In 2022, the inflation rate reached 8.0%, marking the highest level since 1981.
