U.S. and EU Manufacturing Value Added Remains Higher than China Despite Long-Term Decline

The combined U.S. and EU share of global manufacturing value added fell from nearly 50% in 2004 to 32% in 2023, while China surged from 9% to 29%. Although value added remains higher in the U.S. and EU, China produces a larger volume of manufactured goods.
